Dr. Colin McDermott

Taking the Plunge: Fish Medicine and Surgery

Dr. Colin McDermott is a 2011 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating veterinary school, he was a specialty intern for two years in the Exotic Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery Service at the MJR Veterinary Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. After this internship, he was accepted to a Veterinary Fellowship at the National Aquarium for two and a half years, helping to oversee the closure of the Washington, D.C. facility, and providing veterinary care for all animals at the Baltimore location as part of the Animal Health team. He is currently an exotics veterinarian at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital. His special interests include reptile and aquatic animal medicine, having completed both Aquavet® I and Aquavet® II programs. He also currently serves at the Education Committee Chair for the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians.
